High Cholesterol

It can be frightening to find out that your cholesterol levels are too high. This can be a warning sign for you to start looking after yourself and your health. Having high cholesterol can be detrimental to your health. You should take this serious.

There are a few things that you can do to improve your cholesterol levels and one of them is to adapt better eating habits. Your health very much depends on low cholesterol foods. Good exercise is another factor to keep in mind if you want to lower your cholesterol. Exercising three times a week can be very beneficial for high cholesterol levels.

The first step to a healthier you is to cut down on rich meats and fats. The inclusion of white meat and fish is important in your cholesterol diet although it might not be very apealing if you are a red meat lover. You can still occassionally treat yourself to your favourite dish, but keep it moderate.

For any low cholesterol diet, fruit and vegetables are the cornerstone. Why dont you make yourself a refreshing medley of tropical fruits and low fat yoghurt when you experience a hot summers day?

Vegetables are filling and highly nutritious. Organic vegetables should be chosen over frozen vegetables because they have much more nutrients. Frozen vegetables lose there nutritional value during freezing. Vegetables can be baked, steamed or stir fried in a little olive oil. For a delicious treat, try slicing sweet potatoes and seasoning them with coconut and cinnamon before drizzling with a little olive oil before baking slowly.

Chicken, turkey and fish are low cholesterol meats that come highly recommended. These can be very tempting to your taste buds if grilled, baked or steamed.

When it comes to exercising for high cholesterol levels it is important to get your heart rate up. Walking is good exercise and with the right mental attitude it can also be enjoyable. The hardest part of exercise is just getting into the habit of doing it regularly. Dont try to make up for your lack of exercise in one week. A nice frisk walk is great for mind, soul and body and you can always stretch it a little more the next day.

Finding out that you have high cholesterol levels might just be a wake up call for you. This is the time that you have to realize your health is important to you and you should give attention to it.
