Help My Partner Snores And I Can’t Sleep – Is There An Answer

If there is one downfall in any relationship then it has to be a snoring partner. How many times have you heard your friends say that their husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend snores so loudly that they cannot get to sleep?

My favorite response that I hear all the time is when one partner says to another because they snored all night they could not get any sleep due to the noise. The other partner really could not care less and often defends themselves by saying, “they cannot help it”.

Well maybe so, maybe they cannot help snoring loudly, now – but there is something they can do. They can look at their lifestyle to see if they might be overweight, drink too much alcohol or smoke just before they go to bed.

Smoking irritates the lining in the throat causing narrowing of the airway. With each breath during sleep the throat lining vibrates causing the loud snoring noise. Being overweight adds fatty deposits to the lining of the throat and contributes to a narrow airway.

Alcohol causes the body to totally relax during sleep causing the soft palate to fall down slightly and the tongue falls back into the throat. This causes narrowing of the airway and the vibrations between the soft palate and the throat can be extremely loud.

This is often why you hear the comment that my partner snores loudly and I can’t sleep especially if the partner drinks alcohol before bedtime.

Rather than invasive surgery to cure snoring, we have always believed that a natural approach to snoring can be more beneficial and very easy to do.

One natural way to reduce the sounds of snoring is to raise the head with an extra pillow that tilts the head forward. This holds the tongue forward in the mouth in its natural position and opens up the airways at the back of the throat reducing vibrations.

There are many natural techniques to reduce the sound of snoring including a herbal approach, exercises and our favorite, subtle aroma therapy. These ideas and more can be found at http://secretwitter.com.
