Relieve Psoriasis Symptoms With Effective Home Remedies

Although you’ll always want to discuss psoriasis treatment with your doctor, using a home remedy for psoriasis can help relieve symptoms and make you feel better.  Home remedies for psoriasis include eating the right diet, using at natural at-home items on the skin, and reducing stress to reduce the number and severity of flair ups.

A psoriasis diet is one of the key home remedies for psoriasis.  This doesn’t include counting calories and is not meant as a one size fits all diet.  Instead, realize that what you eat can affect your psoriasis and strive to eat a healthy diet.  A food diary can be useful in knowing which foods aggravate your condition.  Some foods are known to worsen psoriasis.  Reduce dairy and meat and increase vegetables.  Essential fatty acids are important and can be found in both fish and flax.  To make sure you are getting enough Omega 3 and 6, take a flax seed oil or fish oil supplement.

Topical solutions can be made from your daily kitchen items.  Apple cider vinegar is a widely-used home remedy for psoriasis.  It can be applied directly to the scalp for a few hours before rinsing it off.  Another use with apple cider vinegar is to add a cup of it to a gallon of water.  Soak a cloth in it and then place it on the area of your itching skin.

A common cupboard item that can help is olive oil.  Massage warm olive oil on your scalp or add it to your bath water.  If you are out of olive oil, a cup of vegetable oil can be added to a bath in its place.

Until there is an ultimate treatment for psoriasis, many people will choose to control their condition with a combination of traditional medication and at home remedies for psoriasis.   A home remedy for psoriasis that studies have shown to be effective is aloe vera.  It may help reduce the number of plaques and can be applied directly to the skin.

The most inexpensive home remedy for psoriasis is baking soda.  You can make a topical solution by mixing 1 1/2 cups into three gallons of water.  Simply soak a cloth in the mixture and apply it to your skin.

Eating right and using home made mixtures to help control the itching are important, but don’t forget to keep an eye on your stress level.  Stress can make psoriasis worse.  Incorporate exercise, yoga, or meditation into your everyday routine.
